Anti-gender politics in East-Central Europe: Right-wing defiance to West-Eurocentrism

Anti-gender actors in East-Central Europe (ECE) too claim that gender is an ideological colonization. In this article, contrasting these accusations with actually existing power relations of the global and European architecture, I discuss whether they are – at least to some extent based on social realities. Neither anti-gender campaigns nor rise illiberal forces ECE phenomena per se should not be treated as such. However, relevance geopolitical embeddedness equality policies, studies feminist LGBT politics needs analysed thoroughly order better understand right-wing discourse. This paper offers a theoretical explanation, empirical critical literature. Focussing four Visegrád countries, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia Hungary, it attempts demonstrate specific drivers mobilization region argues discourse language resistance against material symbolic East-West inequalities Europe.
